Board Member (Chairperson)

About NAM

Northeast Addiction and Mental Health (NAM) Centre for Holistic Recovery is a not-for-profit clinic with the vision of offering holistic addiction and mental health treatment that is accessible to all. We offer effective evidence-based treatment that bridges the traditional and alternative medical therapies.

Our board members champion the importance of exceptional board leadership and believe — as we do — that every organization needs a strong and effective board to fully realize its potential for good. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and advocating for the financial resources and partnerships necessary for NAM to advance its mission.

Industry

Addiction and Mental Health – provide the spectrum of services from outpatient to residential inpatient, including medical support.

Experience

We are looking for someone with board experience and preferably experience with organizations that are rapidly growing and servicing the mental health, addiction or general healthcare fields.

Job Description

The NAM Recovery Board of Directors is composed of leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the NAM Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the nonprofit sector. NAM is in the early phases of developing as a not-for-profit organization. In addition to healthcare members, the board has members with financial expertise, and has a recently populated audit and finance committee. We are a registered charity and have undergone routine financial audits as per CRA requirements.

We need an experienced member to serve as chair and support further development of the board so that it is strong in governance and oversight, as well as supporting the long term goals. The chair would further develop the board and its committees to support the short, medium and long term strategic goals of the organization.

Attendance at monthly board meetings (virtual or in person), and then additional committee meetings as required.

Position Term

The term will be 12 months with potential for renewal. We anticipate time commitment will range from 8-10 hours per month as this is a leadership position within the board of a rapidly growing organization. This position will work closely with the President and Medical Director, Dr. Harbir Singh Gill, and our leadership team.

Honoraria

$8000 per annum honorarium will be given only for the Chair, in recognition of the additional time needed with developing and mentoring the board of a rapidly growing organization, and for this reason we require an experienced board chair.
